P\u00f4vodn\u00fa osadu Bystricu zalo\u017eili drobn\u00ed slovensk\u00ed ban\u00edci, remeseln\u00edci a ro\u013en\u00edci. Medzn\u00edkom vo v\u00fdvoji Banskej Bystrici je polovica 13. storo\u010dia, ke\u010f sa ved\u013ea starej slovenskej osady usadili sask\u00ed kupci, remeseln\u00edci a ban\u00edci, ktor\u00ed v roku 1255 dostali od Bela IV. (\u0161tvrt\u00e9ho) mestsk\u00e9 v\u00fdsady. Listinou Belo IV. udelil nemeck\u00fdm kolonistom v\u00fdsady kr\u00e1\u013eovsk\u00e9ho mesta.<br \/>\nErb Banskej Bystrice vznikol v druhej polovici 13. storo\u010dia, ktor\u00fd pramen\u00ed v mlad\u0161om uhorskom \u0161t\u00e1tnom znaku. Mesto tak chcelo vyjadri\u0165 svoju priamu z\u00e1vislos\u0165 na panovn\u00edkovi. Od \u0161t\u00e1tneho znaku sa odli\u0161uje in\u00fdm porad\u00edm farieb.<br \/>\nS\u00fa\u010dasn\u00fa podobu erbu Banskej Bystrice tvor\u00ed strieborno-\u010derveno sedemkr\u00e1t delen\u00fd \u0161t\u00edt. Nad \u0161t\u00edtom vo funkcii jeho nosi\u010da je anjel.
